Referrers from StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon is a popular, fast growing web community. Stumblers share their opinions about the web sites they like or dislike.
When you get traffic from StumbleUpon, this traffic appears in your AWStats reports under “Stumbleupon (Social Bookmark)” among the “Links from an Internet Search Engine“.
If you wonder what pages of your site are being stumbled, the first extra section is for you. It will show you a list of your pages on StumbleUpon. For each page, the extra section provides a direct link to the StumbleUpon reviews.
The second extra section shows the referrers from the “People” part of StumbleUpon. Referrers with a higher number for hits than for pages are hot linking to your web site (images from your site shown in a StumbleUpon page).

Cool! So where do I put this extra code??
August 8th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
This code must be placed in your AWStats config file.

Stupid question, I know, but any idea where that’s located in cPanel?

See our new article Changing the AWStats config file in cPanel.

Nice! Thanks!

So it won’t retroactively gather the stumbleupon links, correct? It will just start placing them in the new section as of the time I updated the config file, right?
August 9th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
That’s correct!

I’ve let it run for a couple of months, but it doesn’t seem to work… it’s collected no stats, though I know SU sends me at least 100 visitors/day. Ideas?

Oops! You are right. There was a problem with the extra section. I have replaced it with two new extra sections that will give you a complete view of the referrers from StumbleUpon.
Tim, thanks for helping me solve this problem.
