Hi there,
I have changed servers and just copied the stats data files from my old server to the new one and when I go to view, it is not reflecting the months and years prior (the imported data)
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks so much for your time.
Regards
Barry

Hi,
Compare the name of your new AWStats config file and the name of your old database files. They should use the same config name, like in this example:
- awstats.config-name.conf
- awstats032008.config-name.txt
If the config names are different, just rename your old database files.

Hi Jean-Luc
Thanks for your reply. I sadly did not make a back up of the content in the new stats folder on the new server, i just over-wrote every thing. I still have the same domain name though.
I have no idea where I can find the following file:
- awstats.config-name.conf
it is not in my Stats folder is there another place that it is stored? (sorry about the silly questions, I am just ignornant )
Thanks for your help and your time and most appreciated.
Kind regards
Barry

I have managed to locate the following:
/tmp/awstats/ directory.
It is called awstats.your_site_name.conf
But I cannot locate this file on my old server. Is is a problem that my old server was windows based? I contact the help desk and asked them to tell me or look for the file and they could not find it.
What do I have to do now? Thanks again and sorry for the trouble.
Regards
Barry

You do not need the AWStats config file of the old server. In your first post, you wrote : “just copied the stats data files from my old server to the new one “. These files are all you need. How are they named ?

There are a whole lot of files duplicated as per below. That is all that was in the Stats folder on my old server.
awstats012007.psptubez.com
awstats012007.psptubez.com.bak

Weird that the first file name does not end with “.txt”. I expected your database files to be called awstats012007.psptubez.com.txt, awstats022007.psptubez.com.txt, awstats032007.psptubez.com.txt,…
You said that you found “awstats.your_site_name.conf ” of the new server. You should rename your database files in awstats012007.your_site_name.txt, awstats022007.your_site_name.txt, awstats032007.your_site_name.txt,…
In other words, exactly the same your_site_name must be used for the new config file and for the old database files.

I do apologise, I looked on my PC and then went to change as you suggested and in FTP it has the .txt at the end of the file names, but there are also files with a .bak extension as well.
Maybe the folder is in the wrong place, it is /public_html/Stats, is that correct?
I am so sorry to be troubling you like this but you are being very kind and helpful and I totally appreciate it! Bless you!

These .bak files are backup copies of some .txt database files.
Now that your new config file and your old datafiles carry the same name, check the DirData command in the config file. If you have
then your database files must be in the same directory as your config file. If another directory is indicated, copy the database files in that directory.
Don't you get access to the old stats in your AWStats report now ?
