Permissions Problems Persist

Hi folks.

After trying for several days and several ways, permissions problems still plague me.

OSX Server with the latest AWStats.

Due to write permissions, I've set the temp file here: DirData = "/var/log/apache2"

I thought that would be the best place.  I don't know where to shove this temp data for writing so that the Apache nobody user can write.  Any suggestions?

So this is the current error message I am getting with browser update, as well as the command line:

Couldn't open file "/var/log/apache2/awstats072013.example.tmp.16751" for write: Permission denied

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Update:

I've moved the DirData to "/var/tmp/" which has full permissions.  So the processing is now happening.  However, in the command line, when I manually update a configuration, this is what I get on permissions:

Warning: Failed to rename "/var/tmp/awstats072013.food.tmp.17509" into "/var/tmp/awstats072013.food.txt".

Write permissions on "awstats072013.food.txt" might be wrong or file might be opened.

Considering this is in a directory with world permissions, this has to be some kind of an issue. If anything I should be able to update this manually over the option of choosing the browser. I would like to do this hourly using launchd (cron).

Cheers

This application is temperamental.  I have 777 on these files and 777 on /var/tmp/ and this is what I get for one domain out of several:

Warning: Failed to rename "/var/tmp/awstats072013.mydomain.tmp.44930" into "/var/tmp/awstats072013.mydomain.txt".

Write permissions on "awstats072013.mydomain.txt" might be wrong for an 'update from web' or file might be opened.

Any advice?  I would appreciate some leadership on this.

Cheers
