Day by Day gives "Never updated (See 'Build/Update' on awstats_setup.html page)" warning

I've had awstats running for years and have just added day by day.

The installation seems to have worked and I see the links to the days at the top of the screen. When I click on one of these days I get no stats displayed and the message;

Never updated (See 'Build/Update' on awstats_setup.html page)

I have run the update script;

sudo perl /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ -databasebreak=day -update

Create/Update database for config "" by AWStats version 7.0 (build 1.971)
From data in log file "/var/log/apache2/access.log"…
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record…
Direct access to last remembered record has fallen on another record.
So searching new records from beginning of log file…
Phase 2 : Now process new records (Flush history on disk after 20000 hosts)…
Warning: awstats has detected that some hosts names were already resolved in your logfile /var/log/apache2/access.log.
If DNS lookup was already made by the logger (web server), you should change your setup DNSLookup=1 into DNSLookup=0 to increase awstats speed.

Any ideas what I need to do to get daily stats displayed?

This shows that you successfully generated at least one AWStats data file with the databasebreak=day  option.

Do you see this data file in the AWStats DirData  directory (ie. in the same directory as the monthly data files)? A monthly data file for June 2012 will be named awstats062012.your_site.txt while a daily data file for June 19 will be named awstats06201219.your_site.txt.

If you see both monthly and daily data files, check if the permissions are the same.

Please let us know if this helped.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I do have a file called awstats06201222.txt.

It looks like the site name has been missed off for some reason.

Do you know why this might be?

I do have two sites running awstats both with their own conf file. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not

I just noticed that you wrote:

sudo perl /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ -databasebreak=day -update

The config parameter is not correct. It should be and not .

 Thanks that worked perfectly!

I don't suppose you know how I can get it to scan all of my historic log files too?
