AWStats and loadbalanced IIS servers.

I intend to install AWStats on its own server (never used it before!), and I want it to pull logs from load balanced webservers for one site.  Is it possible to pull these in?

I'm getting the inclination thats its logresolvemerge.pl to do this, but I'm not finding too many examples for a loadbalnaced scenario.

Assume webserver names are WEB1 and WEB2, and the IIS Logs are in D:\\logs on both these webservers.  What would the logresolvemerge parameters actually be?

Is it feasible to use UNCs  e.g.

 logresolvemerge.pl \\\\web1\\d$\\logs\\*.log \\\\web2\\d$\\logs\\*.log  > combinedlogs.log

 Cheers

Paul

Your logresolvemerge  command looks good to me.

I guess you have already seen how can I update my statistics when I use a load balancing system that splits my logs ? in AWStats FAQ.

Hi Paul

I had some problems getting Awstats to work on our load ballanced servers but I've almost cracked it.

Here's my logresolve line:

/website/applications/awstats-6.6/tools/logresolvemerge.pl D:/LogFiles/W3SVC1269590722/*.log Z:/LogFiles/W3SVC1269590722/*.log  > /LogFiles/website-combined-logs/combinedlogs.log

I had to map the network drive (Z:) on the server that runs Awstats to the logfile folder on the second server. The D: is where the logfiles reside on the server that runs awstats.

The only problem I have now is that I have to manually paste the following at the top of the merged logfile (combinedlogs.log) in order for Awstats to process the log:

#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0
#Version: 1.0
#Fields: date time cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query cs-username c-ip cs-version cs(User-Agent) cs(Referer) sc-status sc-bytes

Hope this helps

Jim
