Hello All,

First of all nice to see a site with a forum about awstats and iis :D

Now my question :

I have installed AWStats on my Windows XP Prof with IIS 5.1. Awstats for my default test site is working correctly , although I cannot get it to analize my FTP logs.

Logfile :

#Fields: date time c-ip cs-username s-sitename s-computername s-ip s-port cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query sc-status sc-bytes cs-bytes time-taken cs-version cs-host cs(User-Agent) cs(Referer)
2008-12-25 20:39:38 anonymous MSFTPSVC1 SERVER 21 [1]USER anonymous – 331 0 0 0 FTP – - -
2008-12-25 20:39:43 MSFTPSVC1 SERVER 21 [1]PASS – 230 0 0 0 FTP – - -
2008-12-25 20:39:54 MSFTPSVC1 SERVER 21 [1]QUIT – - 226 0 0 0 FTP – - -

awstats.ftp.conf :

LogFormat=”%time2 %host %logname s-sitename s-computername s-ip s-port %method %url %other %code %bytesd %other %other %other cs-host %other %other”

This is the error :

Dropped record (method/protocol '[1]PASS' not qualified when LogType=F): 2008-12
-25 20:39:43 – MSFTPSVC1 SERVER 21 [1]PASS – - 530 0
0 16 FTP – - -

It seems my method is not a valid one. How can I get my FTP stats ?

Unfortunately, I have to say that I am not experienced with stats for FTP on IIS. I am not even sure that AWStats supports the FTP log format of IIS.

Anyway, I looked in the  source code and did not find any reference to a PASS  method. There are two regular expressions defining what is equivalent to GET and to SENT at lines 6231 and 6232 in my 6.9 beta version of the program:

my $regget=qr/get|out/i;
my $regsent=qr/sent|put|in/i;

You can edit one of these lines and see if it helps.

Regarding the LogFormat  definition, I would use:

LogFormat="%time2 %host %logname %other %other %other %other %method %url %other %code %bytesd %other %other %other %other %other %other"

It seems to be a bit more complicated as even [0]USER is not recognized as method. Too bad this is so complicated an no-one has any knowledge about it.

I tried to mess around with the $regget and $regsend but it didn't help much. I will drop this , as this is too much of work to find out the correct way the log should look like for awstats to getit working.

Thanks for all who reviewed / helped / answered.

Regards and a happy new year,
