Hey smart people

I have a log file over 4 Gb it's a little too big. so i have a log file for every day. can awstate handle that.

i was thinking what if i gave it a file a day. could it not just update it on to the old infomation. It looks like it just save what line it's reading from. so when you give it af new infomation it while only read things over the last line from last time.

is there a way you can give awstat new infomation on a file wihtout the old infomation?

I hope some now the answer to this problem
thanks Fatman

Hi,

You can run AWStats updates as often as you like. If your log files are very big, you can run updates every day or even every hour if necessary.

If AWStats does not find the last line from its last update, it will run the new update starting at the beginning of the file.

You have to make sure all updates are executed in chronological order. Always start with the oldest log file, then the second oldest, and so on, and end with the newest log file.

I hope this answers your questions.
