Need help in filing in missing stats from May and June 2007. Not sure what to run on the command line in a windows 2k server. When I try, awstats just updates the previous day and does not go back 6 weeks to fill in all the weeks. I moved May and June out of the data directory so that it had a clear shot for a update, but it doesn’t do what I need.

Hi Tim,

After you have moved the existing May and June database files out of the directory, you need to do a few things:

1. comment out the value of the LogFile parameter in the AWStats config file and add:

LogFile="C:/path_to/temporary_file.log"

2. merge all the log files you need to process into this temporary_file.log. The merged file must begin with the oldest data and end with the newest.

3. run the AWStats update from the command line.

4. restore the former value of the LogFile parameter.

If the log files are very large, you can do several partial updates, starting with the oldest files. You will then have to repeat steps 2 and 3 several times until the latest data have been processed.

Hi,

An old post but i thought i would ressurect it. I am also trying to include some log files in my stats that previously got missed out.

I have tried to put all the month's logs into one temporary file and deleted the compiled awstats file for that month and ran the update like you have described.

My problem is that it only updates the stats for yesterday and looks like it skips everything else?

eg:

Found 99094 old records
Found 33156 new qualified records.

I have tried a few variations but only yesterdays data ever gets processed…

 TIA

AWStats will not accept to process old records if there are newer data in its database files. You should temporarily rename all newer AWStats database files in order to make them invisible to AWStats. Deleting only the database of the month of the log file is not good enough.

Say that you want to process a log file dated September 16, 2007. You will have to rename (or move) the existing database files of September, October and November 2007 before you can run the update. You cannot just update one day. You have to completely redo the update for September. When that is done, you can restore the months of October and November as they were before you renamed them.

Hi,

The month i want to update is the current one (november). So i delete the compiled awstats for november and re-run the update, however it is saying there are still entries already been processed, skips them and only processes the stats for the previous day.

No matter what I try, i cannot get awstats to process the entire month?
