Old logs preventing update of newer logs

It seems having September's database is preventing me from correctly updating October's.

Today is October 3 and stats for Oct. 1 and 2 are not updating. I am aware that Awstats
doesn't update old records when newer records exist, so I delete October's database.
I then updated one log at a time:
Command: perl awstats.pl -config mysite.com
-logfile C:inetpublogsLogFilesW3SVC7u_ex141001.log -update

Output:
Create/Update database for config "./awstats.mysite.com.conf" by
AWStats version 7.3 (build 20140126)
From data in log file "C:/inetpub/logs/LogFiles/W3SVC7/u_ex141001.log"…
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record…
Direct access after last parsed record (after line 1101)
Jumped lines in file: 1101
 Found 1101 already parsed records.
Parsed lines in file: 0
 Found 0 dropped records,
 Found 0 comments,
 Found 0 blank records,
 Found 0 corrupted records,
 Found 0 old records,
 Found 0 new qualified records.

Result: No database file is created.

Command: perl awstats.pl -config mysite.com
-logfile C:inetpublogsLogFilesW3SVC7u_ex141002.log -update

Output:
Create/Update database for config "./awstats.mysite.com.conf" by
AWStats version 7.3 (build 20140126)
From data in log file "C:/inetpub/logs/LogFiles/W3SVC7/u_ex141002.log"…
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record…
Direct access to last remembered record is out of file.
So searching it from beginning of log file…
Jumped lines in file: 0
Parsed lines in file: 842
 Found 1 dropped records,
 Found 3 comments,
 Found 0 blank records,
 Found 0 corrupted records,
 Found 838 old records,
 Found 0 new qualified records.

Result: No database file is created.

Command: perl awstats.pl -config mysite.com
-logfile C:inetpublogsLogFilesW3SVC7u_ex141003.log -update

Output:
Create/Update database for config "./awstats.mysite.com.conf" by
AWStats version 7.3 (build 20140126)
From data in log file "C:/inetpub/logs/LogFiles/W3SVC7/u_ex141003.log"…
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record…
Direct access to last remembered record has fallen on another record.
So searching new records from beginning of log file…
Phase 2 : Now process new records (Flush history on disk after 20000 hosts)…
Jumped lines in file: 0
Parsed lines in file: 927
 Found 1 dropped records,
 Found 3 comments,
 Found 0 blank records,
 Found 0 corrupted records,
 Found 3 old records,
 Found 920 new qualified records.

Result: Database file is created for month of October, records
only show stats for Oct. 3rd.

I then removed September's and October's database and did the same thing again.
The result was that all 3 days in October updated successfully. If I copy September's
database back, the results are the same as before: only Oct. 3rd will update. This
doesn't make sense.
I tried using the -databasebreak=day parameter: it did nothing useful. I update Awstats
every night at 11:30pm. It's AWStats version 7.3 (build 20140126) running on Windows
Server 2012 (our Server 2008R2 machine is also having this problem). The log format
is fine, since it obviously updates correctly under the given conditions.
What is it about September's database that prevents October 1 and 2 from updating?

Hi,

This issue is coming from the value of "Date of last record processed" in "LastLine" in your September AWStats data file. Note that "LastLine" is in fact one of the very the first data lines in the file!

First make sure you have an October data file with 3 days updated. Then replace the current "Date of last record processed" in the September data file by 20141001000102. This should do the trick.

Of course, it is always good to make a backup copy of the September file before you edit it.Wink
