Hi there.

I can see now data in follow_me_by_internetofficer 1.1 report. The page says "No data for this host found in…" for any IP i try to follow.  Awstats works fine. There's data in server log files for IP I'm trying to follow. Would you please suggest what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

LogFile="/var/www/xbox/data/logs/nginx-URLNOTREAL.access.log"

LogType=W

LogFormat = 1
LogSeparator=" "

LoadPlugin="follow_me_by_internetofficer /var/www/xbox/data/logs/old-logs/nginx-URLNOTREAL.error.log.1 /var/www/xbox/data/logs/apache-URLNOTREAL.access.log

http://awstats.URLNOTREAL.ru/awstats.pl?config=awstats.URLNOTREAL.ru &pluginmode=follow_me_by_internetofficer&host=87.117.134.200&lang=ru

Awstats analyzes logs from NGINX.

This is an example of log data from LogFile="/var/www/xbox/data/logs/nginx-URLNOTREAL.ru.access.log"

87.117.134.200 – – [14/Dec/2010:14:41:16 +0300] "GET /support HTTP/1.1" 200 10400 "http://www.URLNOTREAL.ru/article/about" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; ru; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 MRA 5.6 (build 03399) Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C)" "www.URLNOTREAL.ru" 0.635 "-"

P.S  I've replased all substrings with real server URL  to "URLNOTREAL"

Hi Alex,

Thank you for this report. It helped us locate the problem. The Follow Me plugin does not work as it should with

LogFormat=1

We will correct that as soon as we can.

In the mean time, please use

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot"

Thanks for reply.

Now i can see some data in follow_me_by_internetofficer report. But this data comes only from apache_log. Data from my nginx_log is not collected by follow_me_by_internetofficer. I've tried to use apache_log only for testing pourpose. All my stats is loged by nginx. Nginx is being used as frontend to apache.  Apache only log request that nginx couldn't complete and redirected to Apache. All recordes in apache.log duplicate some of records in nginx_log. So for awstats and for follow_me_by_internetofficer I need to collect data only nginx.log.

Awstats works fine with log format you suggested. But follow_me_by_internetofficer doesn't

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot"

How should i change Logformat string in awstats.conf to make follow_me_by_internetofficer working with nginx_log?

Here is my log format as it described in nginx.conf

  log_format combined_exdended  '$remote_addr – $remote_user [$time_local] '

    '"$request" $status $body_bytes_sent '

    '"$http_referer" "$http_user_agent" '

   '"$host" $upstream_response_time

   '"$gzip_ratio"';

And one more question.

How can i make column for "coming from URL" in report wider?

Three quick comments:

  1. MaxLengthOfShownURL in the AWStats config file sets the maximum length of the URL shown in the reports. The default value is 64.
  2. You put /var/www/xbox/data/logs/old-logs/nginx-URLNOTREAL.error.log.1 in the list of files to be used by the plugin. It looks like an error file, not a web server log file. It should probably not be included in the list.
  3. Can you paste here a line from the Nginx log file ? Thanks.

Thanks again

You put /var/www/xbox/data/logs/old-logs/nginx-URLNOTREAL.error.log.1 in
the list of files to be used by the plugin. It looks like an error
file, not a web server log file. It should probably not be included in
the list.

It's not an error. After Logrotate moves records to a new file it make such extensions to files: arhiv_log.1, arhiv_log.2, arhiv_log.3 and so on.

? couple of lines from nginx log file

I have corrected the plugin in order to support LogFormat=1. Version 1.20 is now available for download.

I know about …log.1, …log.2, …log.3, … What amazed me was this: …something.error.log.1.

I looked at the two lines from your Nginx logs. This format is not LogFormat=1. it is not the same format as in your Apache logs. I would expect that you need different AWStats config files to process these different log formats. Don't you have a specific LogFormat in your AWStats config file for Nginx logs ? If not, you can try this (my best guess) :

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot %otherquot %other %otherquot"

Thank you very much for prompt replies and support!

Now it works!!!

My problem was solved by fixing two parts.

1.  Set  LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot %otherquot %other %otherquot"

2. I have copied to config wrong name of additional log file as you mentioned.

I tried to analyze by the plugun old-logs/nginx-XXX.error.log.1 instead of old-logs/nginx-XXX.access.log.1

May be some-kind of usefull for you:

My log format is standard apache log format + three additional fields in the end of the string.
Awstats works fine with any of three different logformat options in conf. It takes all necessary data from the start of the log string and doesn't care for any additional fileds in the end of the log string.

LogFormat = 1

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot"

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot %otherquot %other %otherquot"

follow_me_by_internetofficer 1.2 works only with

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot %otherquot %other %otherquot"

and in my case is not working  with

LogFormat = 1

LogFormat="%host %other %logname %time1 %methodurl %code %bytesd %refererquot %uaquot"

I was also having a problem with this.  To get it to work, I had

LogFile="/var/www/cgi-bin/awstats/logresolvemerge.pl /etc/awstats/fixed/*.access_log |"

If I left logresolvemerge.pl in its normal folder, the Follow Me plugin would not work.  I had ExecCGI enabled in Apache.

Now, if there are too many logfiles in the /etc/awsats/fixed folder, I still get the "No data…" error message.

That is sad, as this looked like a very good plugin.
