We are trying to read SA.log using AWStats. We want to include a custom section in the Report that will give the URL (could be a portlet or a page), name of the user accessed the page, no.of total users accessed the page.

Our sample entry in the SA.log is

0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1 – - [08/Feb/2012:10:08:19 -0500] "GET /Portlet/5_CGAH47L0084G00I4BONHCQ10E2/Login_Portlet?PortletPID=5_CGAH47L0084G00I4BONHCQ10E2&PortletMode=View&PortletState=Normal HTTP/1.1" 200 -1 "http://localhost/Page/6_CGAH47L0084G00I4BONHCQ10M1/null" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; HPNTDF; .NET4.0C; InfoPath.3; BRI/1; BRI/2)" "portalOpenFlyout=null;JSESSIONID=0000Und8rLpC5rZ2iLCuPnf9ebB:-1;portalFlyoutIsOpen=null"

The log format that we are using is LogFormat = 1

I have tried a bunch of stuff to create the extra section but the result always shows 0.

Any help in this matter will be much appreciated.

Hi,

You will need an extra section for each URL (or group of URLs) that you want to monitor like this.

You have to select the URL (or group of URLs) in ExtraSectionCondition1  and you put the %logname  variable in ExtraSectionFirstColumnValues1 . In fact, %logname  is not supported by AWStats in extra sections, but you can easily add this support by following the instructions provided by EvilMattyJ in  Possible to reuse another Log value in Extra Section.

Jean-Luc,

Thanks for the reply.

Below is what I am trying and it doesn't give me the list.

ExtraSectionName1="Total Hit"
ExtraSectionCodeFilter1="200 304"
ExtraSectionCondition1="URL,([^&]+)"
ExtraSectionFirstColumnTitle1="Name"
ExtraSectionFirstColumnValues1="URL,([^&]+)"
ExtraSectionFirstColumnFormat1="%s"
ExtraSectionStatTypes1=PL
ExtraSectionAddAverageRow1=0
ExtraSectionAddSumRow1=1
MaxNbOfExtra1=20
MinHitExtra1=1

With the above configuration my expected result is to get the list of all the urls (portlets, pages) and there views and last visit.

I am trying to go with the simple configuration for the extra section and from there expand.

My final goal is to do the same thing for selected URL's and user's (by adding the code mentioned in other post).

There will be no data in the extra section until you update the AWStats data, either with the "Update now" button or by execution of the AWStats update script. Did you update the AWStats data?

When ever I make any change I run the below two commands.

perl awstats.pl -config=localhost -update

perl awstats_buildstaticpages.pl -awstatsprog=C:\Software\awstats-7.0\wwwroot\cgi-bin\awstats.pl -config=localhost -output -dir=C:\Work\LocalReports

Could there be any issue with the format of the SA.Log file and the log format? But my pages-URL section displays the list of pages without any issue. I am not sure why the extra section doesn't display it.

The issue is resolved. As you said the database was not refreshed. Now I see the data as expected.

I have one more question, Can I have a report like this

URL Name —— Username ———— Hits

You cannot. As I explained above, you have to select the URL (or group of URLs) in ExtraSectionCondition1 and you put the %logname variable in ExtraSectionFirstColumnValues1 . By group of URL's, I mean a subdirectory or a set of URLs having a common patern (as ExtraSectionCondition1 uses regular expressions).

You will get this:

Extra section 1 (URL Name 1)

User name ——- Hits

Extra section 2 (URL Name 2)

User name ——- Hits

Extra section 3 (URL Name 3)

User name ——- Hits
