You don't see any data because you generated the PDF report for the default month, which is the present month (February 2009). You need to add the -month=MM and -year=YYYY options.
I must say that I do not completely understand your comments, but here are a few remarks that I hope will be useful:
htmldoc must be available on your server for awstats_buildstaticpages to be able to create the PDF files; you should see an error message if awstats_buildstaticpages does not find htmldoc
the AWStats config file is the file specified by the -config option
the -logfile option is of no use here
to generate the PDF file for March 2008, I would try:
