there are several html pages on my website that I would like not included in the stats. Is there a way to do this?

Hi,

Edit the SkipFiles  directive in your AWStats config file:

SkipFiles="/page1.html /another_page.html /a_3rd_page.html"

This tells AWStats that hits on /page1.html, /another_page.html and /a_3rd_page.html must be ignored by AWStats. This only applies to new stats updates. It does not change data which have already been processed by AWStats.

You can also use a regex in SkipFiles :

SkipFiles="/page1.html REGEX[awstats.pl]"

This excludes /pages1.html and any address containing "awstats.pl".

my awstats.config file is very large.  Here's the first line of the config file…. # AWSTATS CONFIGURE FILE 6.4
#—————————————————————————–
# Copy this file into awstats.www.mydomain.conf and edit this new config file
# to setup AWStats

So, do I still edit this file or look for the mydomain.conf file?  I did not see a skipfilles command.  If there isn't one where would I add it?  Also, is there a limit of how many files I can disclude?

thank you!

Depending on the configuration, your AWStats config file will be called awstats.www.mydomain.conf  or awstats.anything_else.conf or awstats.conf . I cannot tell you from here.

What do you mean with "I did not see a skipfilles command " ? Double check the spelling and run a search command that will tell you for sure if the word SkipFiles  is there.

this is how my awstats are set up:   /public html/awstats/awstats.config   When I open up the awstats config file it looks like directions explaining how to set up the awstats instead of the file itself.  That's why I can not locate where to add the skip files command.

thanks for your help!  I will keep looking to see if I can find where to add that command.

I found and added the command for the files.  It looks like I need to add a # before and after the command?

Possible directories for the AWStats config file are:

  • the same directory as awstats.pl
  • /etc/awstats/
  • /usr/local/etc/awstats/
  • /etc/
  • /etc/opt/awstats/

The # character is used to start a comment line. Don't put it in front of the directive you want to use.

Ok, thanks for your help Jean-Luc!  One last question.  what is the awstats.pl file used for?

awstats.pl is the AWStats program. It reads the web server log file and generates the stats reports.

I'm back trying to remove a few pages from my statistics again.  I have tried the above directions, but for some reason, it shut down the whole AWSTATS program.  My AWSTATS are configured like this:  public html/ awstats/   then the following folders/files….

folders:

classes

css

data

icon

js

lang

lib plugins

files:

awredir.pl

awstats.conf

awstats.pl

I assume the correct path is:  public html/awstats/awstats.conf

When I open the awstats.conf file it is a huge amount of information which seems like instructions.  The awstats.pl file looks like the code.

Which file should I add the skipfiles command to – the awstats.conf or awstats.pl?  I am a newbie with this code for awstats.

thanks!
