Frequently I have visitors whose logs show the rerferer with search phrase more than once for each visit. These get counted so that one visit causes more than one use of the search phrase.

Is ther anyway to stop this happening so that any single phrase only gets counted once per user visit?

Hi,

People can come to your site from a Google search, then go back to Google looking at the other search results and then decide to come back to your site. This is quite common and it appears in AWStats reports.

That said, I am aware of your point. A few years ago, I modified AWStats 6.6 to make it able to generate a special report that only showed the first referrer of each visit. This demanded several changes in awstats.pl. This could be extended to support the "Search Keyphrases" and "Search Keywords".

I must say that I do not plan to update or expand this special version of AWStats, except if I am contracted to do it.
