xxx different pages-url Total yyy different pages-url
means that a filter has been applied to this report and that it lists xxx different pages URL's (= number of rows of this report) from a total of yyy different pages URL's (= total number of pages URL's in AWStats database for which at least one hit has been counted).
So yyy is the site total, but only pages that have been visited in the analyzed period of time are counted:
- hits on images and other files are not counted
- pages that have not been visited are not counted
You have a total of 295678 hits on all kind of files, of which there are 67834 hits on 20668 different pages. There is no contradiction in these figures. Or did I miss your point ?
Since the top image is from the site summary page and the bottom image is from the filtered staticlinks report, I am reading the figures as follows:
295678 hits on all kinds of files, of which there were a total of 67834 pages for the site. 370 pages were viewd with the /SPCA filter, and 20668 ???. I don't know what 20668 represents.
"Total : 20668 different pages-url" only appears in the filtered report, but it is independant of the filtering. In fact, this information could be within the summary page.
As I wrote above, 20668 is the total number of different pages URL's in AWStats database. AWStats counted one or more hits for each of these pages.
"67834 pages" does not mean 67834 different pages URL's. As we know that the total number of different pages URL's for AWStats is 20668, this could be (oversimplified example) :
- 20000 pages that got 1 hit each
- 600 pages that got 5 hits each
- 67 pages that got 659 hits each
- 1 page that got 681 hits.
I agree with you that this is not presented clearly by AWStats.
Now that I have the number of different pages using the /spca filter, is it possible to get the number of pages viewed for the /spca (not just the different pages)?
or,
Is it possible to get the summary page using the /spca filter in some way?
or,
I was wondering if I could create another conf file with the website http://www.familylawwebguide.com.au/spca. Would this work as a valid URL? Also, as it would use the same log files, would it cause problems with my existing figures?
